Making something like this a classic platformer, and on the worst platform for platformers out there, just screams ill-considered cash-in on the faux-retro fad. It could have been playable, but inexperience led to terrible controls and awkward, frustrating level design with a much too slow character. It really feels like playing an NES game. The challenges in particular, like collecting music notes and portraits, feel tacked on and out of place.
Despite the overt cartooniness of the storytelling, it has charm, and if it wasnt marred by a game that just isnt fun itd be much more interesting and probably compell me to finish it.
